We are hiring! We are interested in adding another instructor to our team. Driver instructors must possess a strong set of skills and be able to communicate them clearly. Characteristics of successful driver instructors include: a willingness to keep learning, above-average driving skills, basic computer skills, a clean driver’s abstract and the ability to pass a criminal record check. A driver instructor must have good communication skills, be patient, open-minded, detail-oriented, and be able to deal with a variety of different clients and their needs.
If you come to work for us, your duties will include, but may not be limited to:
Maintaining a professional and courteous attitude
Travelling to different nearby towns in east central Alberta as required to deliver driver instruction
Delivering quality in-car instruction to students
Evaluation of students and accurate, prompt record-keeping
Scheduling lessons using Google calendar on computer and other smart devices
Continued learning to improve in-car teaching and to eventually give classroom instruction

The successful applicant will have to become licensed by Alberta Transportation, and we will support you in obtaining your license as soon as possible. The following information outlines the requirements to become a licensed Driving Instructor in the province of Alberta. All applicants must meet the general requirements and the specific requirements of each program that they want to deliver. Individuals wanting to become a licensed Driving Instructor must submit a Driving Instructor License Application (DPLS0045) and the appropriate supporting documentation to Alberta Transportation, Driver Programs and Licensing Standards, as outlined below. General Requirements: The following requirements apply to all applicants who want to become licensed Driving Instructors. The applicant must:
1. Have an operator’s licence that was not cancelled or suspended under the Criminal Code (Canada) during the five years immediately preceding the application.
2. Have a driving record satisfactory to the Registrar for the two-year period preceding the date of the application. A current assessment of less than seven demerit points and no operator’s licence suspension(s) that expired within the preceding two-year period is required.
3. Provide a Criminal Record Check acceptable to the Registrar. Criminal Record Checks must be obtained from a municipal police service or RCMP detachment; an original document (not copied or faxed); dated within 90 days of the instructor application being received.
4. Have no outstanding fines or account balances with Service Alberta, Alberta Registries.
5. Successfully complete an approved course of instruction or training required by the Registrar. Only Alberta licensed Driver Training Schools are approved to provide this service.
6. Be an employee of a licensed Driver Training School or certified Employee Driver Training Agency authorized by Alberta Transportation to deliver Government of Alberta approved driver education / training programs.
7. Upon successful completion of all training and testing, pay the instructor licence fee, plus applicable service charges and GST, at a Registry Agent office. Proof of payment must be submitted to prior to a licence being issued.
